Who am I?
Born in 1951, I have already lived several lives, neo-rural, computer scientist, video director and journalist, and urban planner to this day. And some DIY as gardener, carpenter, cartoonist, mason, historian, naturalist, and then image maker... Long-time resident in the “haut Languedoc”, I now live in Capestang, by the canal du Midi.
The sky, the landscape
Formerly, I filmed and interviewed people. Now, I don't want to bother anyone anymore with a focused zoom lens, with questions. I question the sky, I interview the landscape. As Brassens sang, "The beautiful azure makes me angry... ", it's basically the clouds that attract me, especially when they play with the sun. And when they reflect in a body of water…
Backlit?
Systematically, I am backlighting. It sculpts the landscape with frankness, ignites the colours by transparency and often causes happy chromatic accidents.
Where?
I catch instinctively, by chance. In my daily travels, a stone's throw from Capestang, with a smartphone or a compact in my pocket. No need to fly to the other side of the world...
A square?
Long before Instagram, I was already composing photographic scenes in square format. This kind of mandala contains everything I want to show and feel. Focused, the gaze no longer needs to sweep from one edge to the other. One just has to stand quietly, and move inside.
