All our team members are volunteers. Gare-Expo is a non-profit making organisation and all the volunteers work for free. The team is made up of the core Association members:-
Sandra is a playwright and novelist who taught French and Drama at the University of Sussex,where she was for a while Subject Chair of Modern Languages. She has had a house in this area for over 25 years and her partner is a painter. She is President of the Gare-Expo, and is a founder member with Faith O'Reilly.
Yvette Rocheron grew up in Pays de la Loire and went to the University of Poitiers to study English. Later, she married (twice) in England and has one son. After some time teaching in a secondary school, she obtained a PhD in sociology at the University of Warwick. She worked at the University of Leicester at first in sociological research and latterly teaching French studies. She seized the opportunity to attend evening classes on sculpture working from clay, stone or alabaster. Once retired in the Midi to join her friends, Gare-Expo allowed her to fuse her French and English roots by sharing her love for the arts. Is completing a second novel.
Paul spent his career in the catering industry, initially managing catering establishments and latterly in information technology where he was responsible for the training of computerised financial systems to over 5000 employees. He and his partner Davy have had a property in Languedoc since 2001 and moved here permanently in 2009. He joined the Association in 2009 and became treasurer in 2011.
Having originally lived in Paris for 6 years in the 1970s, Lindsey Blake moved to France permanently in 2005 after having spent most of her working life in various countries either in the field of consular work or teaching. She currently teaches English as a foreign language to adults in the Hérault region, either by phone or face to face. Lindsey has been the secretary of the Association Gare-Expo since it started, her main role being to communicate with members and to issue publicity on behalf of the Association. She lives with her husband and her dog.
