Oil Paintings
Elvira Overmars is a Dutch artist, native of the town of Krommenie. She worked for 10 years in Drenthe (Netherlands) as a visual artist.
In 2000, she left her country to settle in Agde as a painter and moved again in 2020 to live and paint in the Haut Languedoc park in Tarassac.
Her works are inspired by female nudes. She always works with a model, which allows her to produce charcoal sketches. She later uses these sketches to create paintings.
Her style is figurative, but because of the distortions imposed by Elvira we cannot speak of realism. She calls her style “ironic realism”. As much as her paintings were originally characterized by simplicity, under the light of the south of France, her work evolves towards a more colorful and erotic form. From her characters radiates a proud, happy and free femininity.
“I try to create a world that reassures me. My paintings form a kind of artificial world. The last images are like my friends. The better I am at building this world, the more painting becomes a passion. This forces me to create more and more”
