Watercolours
Born in Béziers, I studied economics in Montpellier and I am currently a retired high school teacher. It was my meeting with an English watercolourist that revealed my passion for watercolour. I then worked with other talented artists who helped and encouraged me in my artistic approach.
I am always inspired by the beauty of nature and, since 2014, by seaside landscapes like those of Carboneras where I live a few months of the year.
From my photos, I try to interpret what I see by transforming reality a little, using the pigments that interest me and especially the technique that fascinates me - wet-on-wet watercolour. Often the subject is a pretext to use certain pigments and have fun with the water that I often direct and sometimes, I let it happen. I want to collaborate with water that alone knows how to make you dream with the lines and the effects on the paper. Water will be the spirit and I will be the hands that guide it.
In Spain I was inspired and impregnated by the elements of the environment, the colors from rock pigments, the ever-changing sea, the dried vegetation, the landscapes of coves and mountains, the skies, the madness of the wind and the frenzied heat, the other artists, painters and ceramists. Everything is great there: nature and people. The water that impresses me so much in the sea and that, on white paper, I try to tame and fraternise now, after twenty years, lets me be its faithful friend.
