The “festival” of Florilam in Lamalou-les-Bains was created by the municipality in 2009 to herald the advent of spring – the name being a combination of “flora” and Lamalou.
In 2010 the municipality asked the Gare-Expo Association to hold an exhibition to coincide with Florilam and to have spring and flowers as its main theme. This year’s Florilam festival will take place from 6th to 18th April 2014.
The Gare-Expo’s Florilam exhibition will be held in the Centre Ulysse, boulevard Mourcayrol, Lamalou-les-Bains from Tuesday 8th April until 18th April and is open every day from 3 pm to 6 pm EXCEPT Mondays (entrance is free). This year’s exhibition will feature all kinds of textiles – embroidery, silk painting, patchwork, wool sculptures, etc by a variety of very talented, international artists (French, British, German, Swedish and Swiss). It promises to be a very colourful exhibition.
Other events for Florilam include an all day plant market on Sunday 6th April which is held on the square in front of the Casino and all along the main street of Lamalou-les-Bains This is an excellent occasion to buy plants for the garden – a huge selection! The mini farm from Cessenon-sur-Orb will be there with some of its smaller animals. Other activities during Florilam week will include amongst others a projection of films at the Cinema L’Imperial, a botanical outing to the Forest of the Anciens Combattants and lectures. For further information about Florilam please contact the Tourist Office at Lamalou-les-Bains.
We hope to see many of you at our exhibition in the Centre Ulysse!
